How Settle.ie is funded

Settle.ie exists to make moving to Ireland easier. We publish practical guides to help you navigate visas, banking, PPS numbers, housing, healthcare and everyday life in Ireland. To keep the site running and free to use, we earn money in a few ways. On this page we explain how that works and what it means for you.

Affiliate links

Some links on Settle.ie are affiliate links. This means that if you click through and sign up for a service or make a purchase, we may receive a commission from that provider. This doesn't change the price you pay – in most cases, you'll get exactly the same offer as if you went directly to the provider's website. The commission we earn helps us maintain the site and continue creating free, helpful content.

How we choose providers

We take our responsibility seriously when recommending products and services. Here's how we approach affiliate partnerships:

  • Relevance first: We only link to services that are genuinely relevant to people moving to or living in Ireland.
  • Quality over commission: Usefulness and reliability come before commission rate. We won't recommend a poor service just because it pays well.
  • Content comes first: Our guides are written first for clarity and accuracy. Monetisation is a secondary consideration.
  • No commission-only recommendations: We will not recommend a product or service solely because it pays a commission. If it's not genuinely helpful, we won't include it.

How to recognise affiliate links

We believe in transparency. Affiliate links on Settle.ie will be clearly indicated in context with a short note such as:

In addition, all affiliate links are technically marked with rel="sponsored nofollow" attributes, so search engines can recognise them as sponsored links.

Advertising and other income

Settle.ie may also use display advertising or partner on specific guides and offers. Any sponsored content will be clearly labelled as such, so you always know what you're reading.

Editorial independence

Our goal is to help you make better decisions when moving to Ireland. Affiliate income helps keep this site online and free to use, but our partners do not control editorial content.

We maintain complete editorial independence. If a service is poor value or not suitable, we will say so – even if we have an affiliate relationship with them, or even if it means not linking to them at all. Your trust matters more than any commission.
